Counselling with AJH Therapy

The aim of counselling is to help you feel in control of your life and to support you whilst you work at overcoming the problems that are affecting your everyday life. Everybody needs help at some time in their life, but for some of us the hardest thing is to accept that you need that help.  Please don’t feel that support is not available to you – just by reading this page, you are making that first step. Some people try to minimise their problems, and tell themselves that compared to other people, their issues are only minor, and they shouldn’t bother anyone with them, things aren’t that bad really, I’ll just have to go on trying to cope, but I’ve never needed help before, I’m the one other people turn to  – does any of that sound at all familiar? Well, here at AJH Therapy, the very strong message is:

So please don’t feel alone or isolated any more. If you choose the Counselling path, you can be confident that you will be supported all the way through your sessions.

Alison works in an Eclectic way, meaning she uses components of different therapy models and integrates them into your sessions as necessary. This is a skilled way of working, which has the benefit of being able to identify the most effective way to help you. During your sessions, your plan will adapt as Alison chooses the methods best suited to your personal needs. This means that if you are not comfortable with a particular tool, we can adapt it so you maintain progress.

Some of the therapy tools you may have heard of include Person Centred, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy), Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness, or even Hypno- Counselling. We can decide together to choose tools from any of these styles; whatever best matches your personality to get the result you want.
